How do I get to Andros Island?
We recommend flying directly to South Andros from Ft Lauderdale Executive Airport (30 min taxi from FLL and 60 min from MIA). Our preferred partner is Makers Air – makersair.com. We can include flights along with your stay at a special rate of $800 round-trip per person.
I'm flying into Nassau. How do I get to Andros from there?
Western Air departs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (6:45am) & Sundays (2pm) from Nassau to Congo Town and returns 40 minutes later. They close the flight/check in 1 hour prior to departure. Tickets are around $220 round-trip per person.
Flamingo Air or Le Air (alternating schedules) depart daily around 7am and 2pm from Nassau to Mangrove Cay. We can arrange your transfers from Mangrove Cay to our resort but it’s more complicated on your return. Tickets are around $200-250 round-trip per person.
Charter flights are available from Nassau into Congo Town starting from $1300 one way for a 5 passenger plane or $1900 one way for a 9 seat plane. We can confirm rates and schedule flights upon request.
Upon arrival at Pindling Intl. Airport, make your way to the “Family Island in Transit” queue in the Immigration and Customs Hall. This is generally faster than the “Tourist” queue. You will find the Domestic Terminal beyond customs. Western Air is located at the end of the terminal. Once checked in, you will go through security and upstairs to the departure lounge. For charter flights, taxis are available outside the terminal and a short ride will bring you to one of the charter terminals (Odyssey, Jet Aviation, etc).
There are no any good boat options from Nassau to South Andros Island.
What makes the Andros Beach Club all-inclusive experience unique?
We focus on “Farm to Table” and “Sea to Table” cuisine. Nearly all of our seafood is locally harvested, often the day it’s served. Our chefs prepare Bahamian, Caribbean, and International inspired dishes from scratch; you’ll enjoy freshly baked breads and desserts and delicious, healthy cuisine. The menu changes based on seasonal availability. We support local farmers and fishermen whenever possible, for protein, fruits, and vegetables. We are happy to accommodate any dietary preferences. Breakfasts and lunches are often plated or made to order based on requests. Dinners are served family-style although we can arrange private dining upon request. We tailor the menu according to both guests’ preferences and availability of local resources.

Medication needed during your stay because access is limited.
Equipment/gear for activities.
Sunscreen (reef safe for ocean activities) and insect repellent.
A light jacket or sweatshirt
What's the weather like? Are hurricanes a concern?
Our summers are typically warm days in the high 80s with brief, occasional showers. Winter days often have a light breeze with temperatures in the low-mid 70s.
South Andros Island is arguably the most protected island in all of the Caribbean. The last major hurricane was 1929 (and even that was an extremely rare situation with 2 storms interfering with each other). We’re surrounded by the Bahama Bank which is about 75+ miles of shallow water, the best natural deterrent from hurricanes. We also have the 3rd largest barrier reef in the world. It’s been 20 years since we’ve even had any storm surge at all on our property. We’ve nurtured an extensive beach berm of native vegetation over 20+ years. Our resort is built to Miami-Dade hurricane code and the original building is 150+ years old. In the event of trip interruption (typically due to flights rather than weather issues on South Andros) we’ll shift your dates by a few days if possible or keep a partial credit on file for a future stay.
Fishing & Bonefishing
Reach out with any more specific questions!
What type of fishing do you offer?
Spearfishing – free diving (breath hold) with a Hawaiian sling or pole spear for grouper, snapper hogfish, jack, mackerel, etc. Our experienced and professional guide(s) will help spot fish and make your experience memorable and rewarding. Our boat is anchored off the beach and many sites are within a 10-15 minute boat ride. We keep fresh seafood on ice to preserve integrity and our staff will process and prepare it for you to enjoy during your stay.
Bonefishing – Andros Island is known as the bonefishing capital of the world. Expert local guides navigate miles of remote flats to offer exceptional fly fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon and more. Whether you’re an avid angler or a first timer, Andros Beach Club is the perfect place to stay and enjoy world class bonefishing. For those who prefer spin casting, you can also fish for bonefish, snapper, barracuda and more.
DIY Fishing – we have spinning rods and bait/tackle available upon request. While we discourage fishing off the beach in front of the resort, there’s a jetty and sandbar/marina 1/2 mile away and Deep Creek is about 1.5 miles south for shore fishing. Several miles away there’s a nice wadeable flat for bonefishing.
Offshore/reef fishing – the Tongue of the Ocean lies 2 miles offshore with a wall leading from 130’ of water into 6000’. Trolling seasonally for wahoo, tuna & mahi or bottom fishing on the reef are available through the resort or with local guides. Advance notice is required.
What season is best for bone fishing?
October through May is generally the best time of year for bonefishing. During the summer months many fish retreat to deeper water or struggle to remain active on the flats. Early morning half day trips (7-11am) are available during these months. It’s best to schedule bonefishing 6-12 months in advance to ensure availability of the top independent guides.
Who are your guides?
We work with the top independent and experienced guides on South Andros Island and Mangrove Cay. We support local guides and entrepreneurs and don’t have our own flats boats or staff guides. They are sought after and often book clients 6-12 months in advance so please contact us early to plan your next bonefishing trip.

Do I need experience for a spearfishing trip?
All levels of spearfishing are welcome! Training and gear is provided.
The Bahamas prohibits the use of spearguns and scuba gear. As such, we use pole spears and Hawaiian slings and snorkel gear. We can start shallow and progress as you’re comfortable and able.
Are your trips sustainable?
Yes. Our guides are experienced and conscious of preserving the fishery. We respect local fishing limits and rotate our spearing locations so we can spearfishing responsibly and sustainably.
What type of fish should we expect to see?
The Andros Barrier Reef is loaded with Nassau, Black and Tiger Grouper; Cubera, Mutton & Grey Snapper; Hogfish, King Mackerel, Jacks and more.
Lobster season runs from August 1st through March 31st. Nassau Grouper season runs from March 1 through November 30.
Can we customize our spearfishing trip?
Yes. We offer group expeditions, skills training and competitions throughout the year. Half day (4 hr) and full day (8 hr) trips are available. We can fish in your comfort zone and progress as you’re comfortable and able to seek larger and more challenging fish.
How deep do I need to dive in order to find fish?
We can find fish in 10-15’ of water but as you progress into deeper water 20-40’ we’re more likely to find bigger fish.
Can I bring fish back to the US?
Yes, traveling with fish is permitted. You’ll need to bring a cooler for transportation and our staff needs advance notice in order to process the fish correctly for export. In general, we prefer having guests consume your fresh catch on island but understand you’d like to bring a part of your experience home to enjoy with friends & family who can hopefully join you on a return trip.
