Spearfishing

Come experience world class spearfishing on South Andros Island. The Bahamas offers some of the best spearfishing in the world within a healthy fishery thanks to restrictions on the use of spear-guns and scuba tanks. We free-dive using Hawaiian slings and pole spears which offers an exciting challenge and promotes sustainability of the fishery. Whether you’re trying it for the first time or an experienced spear-o there are plenty of opportunities to get some great fish including Grouper, Hogfish, Snapper or even Mahi-Mahi or Tuna. Have your fresh catch prepared nightly by our cook Maggie and see what “sea to table” dining is all about.

Besides Grouper, Snapper, Hogfish, Lobster and Crab we also have the tasty Lionfish.  The Lionfish, an invasive species, has taken over coral reefs, threatening to completely take over native fish populations. Once their venomous spines are removed, Lionfish are safe to eat – and delicious. They taste similar to grouper and have shown to be higher in healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, lower in saturated fats, and have lower levels of heavy metals, like mercury.
